To think globally is to think of a problem that is happening worldwide. Acting locally is to begin acting to solve that issue around just the community, or starting small. While acting locally the person will be able to gradually spread the idea/action to solving the issue and eventually making an impact worldwide.
In the United States there are different groups worldwide working to gain support and funds towards clean water and food for people living in poverty. There are also people working with environmental issues that also leave people in an impoverished state. An example of one of these groups is the Think Outside the Bottle campaign (http://www.stopcorporateabuse.org/campaigns/challenge-corporate-control-water/think-outside-bottle). They state that there is enough for water for everyone, yet 1 out of 9 people don’t have access to it and “have worked to ensure this human right is fulfilled worldwide.” People are encouraged to join the campaign and donate towards the people who don’t have access to the water that will bring them out of their poverty. Not only is water essential for human life, it goes towards crops for food.

Florida’s Food & Water Watch have stood up against the environmental damage that can be caused by the illegal oil drilling in Everglades, Florida. “Their method is considered “fracking-like” because the company injects dissolving acids into the ground to unearth oil reserves rather than the usual fracking chemicals. It also says it uses a “modest volume” of water and sand in the process.” Different resources are being poured into the extracting of of the oil that could potentially contaminate the ground and water supplies. Fracking not only has the risk of contaminating the ground, it also creates the risk of releasing toxic fumes, and creating explosions (Tara Lohan,2014).
Another campaign is the Challenge Corporate Abuse of Our Food which focus more on the food issue. They are currently targeting McDonalds for the issues that they cause to health and the environment. The campaign states that “Factory farms predominate, polluting our soil and water, while the corporations that run them manipulate commodity prices and profit from growing large quantities of unhealthful food.” People with low income but easy access to these restaurants are more likely to be exposed to the dangers of fast food restaurants.
