root cause #2
The use of resources is increasing because the population continues to increase. "During the 20th century alone, the population in the world has grown from 1.65 billion to 6 billion." (Worldometer) This means more mouths to feed, more resources to be used and extracted. The cycle will continue to keep going, at a faster rate even. Over exploitation will lead to more inequality in the access to these resources, which leads ot higher rates of poverty and more deaths because those people don't have the essential things for living.
